Christmas in July...Aug...Sept.....

CHRISTMAS IN JULY...AUGUST...SEPTEMBER...

Yes, it's time once more for my rant about year round holiday lighting....

Moving here six years ago from the Midwest, it was an adjustment around holiday time.  Palm trees and 80-90 degree temperatures made it quite hard for me to get in the Christmas spirit. Even after all this time, it is strange.

It seems others here do not have this problem and they celebrate the season throughout the year... year after year.  They love it so much that they continue the celebration even when their home is on the market.

The icicles may project a feeling of coolness in 100 degree heat but let's face it, they are not that attractive in the light of day, especially in the off season.  They remind me more of dirty spaghetti than icicles. This particular home has been on and off the market several times, never having taken down the lights.

In addition to year round holiday lighting, this home features the added bonus of gym equipment on the porch and a basketball hoop.  This home has also been listed numerous times.

Curb appeal is one of the single most important visions that will attract a buyer.  It is the very first impression that will set the tone for the rest of a buyer's tour. The outside condition of a home will tell prospective buyers if the home is well taken care of and worth taking a second look at. So please remember these small tips when readying a home for sale. Clean it up, take them down and please...always remember no matter what time of the year, celebrate responsibly!

I love that line "celebrate responsibly" and you're not talking "spirits".

LOL!!  I was taken in by your title because Sunday I went on a consultation and entered a home that had a Christmas wreath still hanging in the entry from last year all full of cob webbs!!!

Your second photo is very sad-they need pressure washing so badly and lawn fertilizer!!!

LOL@ you Ana, I like your writing style and your photos certainly prove the point! Oh that poor kitty :(  Ok, you've got me, I've never seen exercise equipment on the porch...yet!

I wrote recently about curb appeal, I know when I was shopping if it didn't look good from the get-go I was off to next one!

Hi Cathy, it looks worse in the flesh.  I gotta laugh when I see this because my daughter asked me this past season why they don't turn the lights on at christmas time....they don't, go figure.

Hi Cynthia, the porch thing just gets me! It hasn't changed in a year and two more lisitngs.  When I was house shopping I also skipped over the ugly on outsides. Helped narrow my search, except the one I am in now, my realtor nagged me into going in.  Good thing, inside was great but I could have missed it because the outside was ugly:)

To bad more people don't take alook at the ugly ones.  It would be nice to see these homes dressed up.

Hi Charles,

I think sometimes you might miss a gem, but more often than not if you are looking, ugly on the outside is a good way to narrow the search and a method used by many buyers.  After a while of looking at house after house they all start looking the same unless they are show stoppers or you take notes!  I have moved a lot and house hunting is a tiring process! Thanks for commenting :)

You are so right.  The lights, driveway and lawn say either it's neglected or in foreclosure.

It's like looking at a good looking man with spagetti all over his shirt.

This is a big pet peeve of mine!  I'm so glad you addressed it, because it's not only sellers that need to be reminded that decorations need to be taken down and put away or thrown away after the holiday.  Come on people...

We ask the sellers to stand across the street and look at their home through the eyes of a buyer...yet this is still hard for them to do.  One sure thing that gets their attention is when you say "You are now in a Beauty Contest and don't YOU want to win?"  Would Cinderella win in her rags or in her beautiful gown?  The gown the shoes the hair...it won it all.  The prize the Prince!  Dress your house up to be the winner!  The prize...A Buyer!!!
